In this video I am checking out the Sire Guitars Larry Carlton S7.
You may know Sire Guitar's from their entrance into the bass world with legendary bassist Marcus Miller, but recently they have branched out into the guitar world also and teamed up with Larry Carlton to create a range of killer, affordable instruments.
The Sire S7 is their modern S-style guitar which is loaded with a HSS pickup config, 5 ay switching, a push-push coil split on the tone pot for the bridge humbucker, locking tuners, a two point non locking tremolo and a roasted maple neck.
In the video I have the Sire S7 is plugged into the Blackstar HT20mkIII, the amp is running clean via the Two Notes Torpedo Captor X.

    I have exactly the same but G2622T with the bigsby and exact same color Brownstones wich in real is not so red as we see in your video, it become more red in photo and video. It's a much better model with the bigsby and a smaler body as the G2655 this G2622T have really enough bass no need more one. It got really good resonance and sound. Nice video😉👍

    Thank you for this. Phillip recent did a video on DiMarzio’s latest pickup and I’m curious how this guitar would sound with the Distort’tron on the bridge and their Paf’tron on the neck. Not sure how difficult it would be to swap out the pickups but I might give it a go when I get my T7FM blue leftie next Feb when it gets built. Fingers crossed that I don’t feel the need to swap them but those DiMarsio pups sound killer.

      Understood and appreciated but I am being honest, I do genuinely like the guitars. After the video I actually ended up buying the ML3 to go alongside the ML1, both of which have been on tour with me a lot in the last 2 years. I’m a fan of the brand and I enjoy the instruments they make, not sure how else to present that in a video when it is my opinion.

    Great video, and especially as you are experienced with Blackstar. Really tempted to try the MKiii as I have a HT40 MKII, and like you, i’ve never been a huge fan of the clean channel. My only reservation with Blackstar, is that my amp tech hates them. He says they can only be sent as scrap if certain components go bad. But I do love their versatility, and my MKI and MKII have never let me down at a gig, etc. Decisions…….

    • @LeighFugeGuitar
      @LeighFugeGuitar 5 днів тому

      Thanks so much for checking it out. Yeah I didn’t love the Mk2 cleans but the cleans on the 3 I really like. Blackstar do also repair things in house when needed, I know this isn’t always ideal when you have a go to guy for it, but that option is always there I guess. I’ve been gigging their amps for years and I’ve never been let down, they’ve always been super reliable for me. The only problem I’ve ever had was a bad bass pot on the St James amps EQ but that was only because some pyro dust got in it on stage and fried the pot, not a problem with the amp as such, more that it was in the wrong place at the wrong time haha!

    As a (Covid inspired midlife crisis) beginner I started out with a second hand boss effects pedal as my amp, with a pair of headphones. I found it dreadfully unintuitive, so got a transistor based portable combo. Had no success getting times out of that so … chose one of these (kind of) and my understanding of dialling in tones was transformed. I REALLY recommend it.

    Paul's father had a musical background which influenced him. Both Paul and John had a great ear not only for guitar but also vocals. George Harrison is an underrated guitar player because he used good taste to high light John and Paul's playing with no flashy leads.Ring had the swing beat. When you add George Martin into the mix you get magic.

    LEIGH, How is using the bVI major chord considered a Deceptive Cadence?

    • @LeighFugeGuitar
      @LeighFugeGuitar 5 днів тому

      A deceptive cadence, traditionally is when you go from a Dom7 on the 5 chord to the VI chord of the key, but this is also something we can interpret at guitarists. A cadence is a form of resolution so essentially a deceptive cadence can be any resolution that we don’t expect to hear. We usually expect to hear a progression resolved to the root chord so resolving it elsewhere creates that “deception”. In the case of this song it’s bringing the bVI chord in, which is unexpected and also outside of the key. It’s a really interesting technique. Here’s a cool resource on how the Beatles used it: www.aaronkrerowicz.com/beatles-blog/the-beatles-use-of-deceptive-cadences#:~:text=One%20of%20the%20defining%20characteristics,cadences%20by%20definition%20conclude%20phrases.

    • @waynegram8907
      @waynegram8907 5 днів тому

      @@LeighFugeGuitar I would call this a "parallel minor deception" because a normal deception is V to vi , this is a parallel minor deception which is V to bVI or IV to bVI . What I have been told about how classical composers would create SCHEMAS based around voicing leading, Various deceptions, Line Cliches. The Approach chord and Resolution chord are the bookends of the SCHEMAS but the middle section of the SCHEMAS has line cliches, deceptions, Enclosures. The Beatles used these Line Cliches often in there songs but I have notice that Nirvana Kurt Cobain often uses the bVI chord also which you should look into which Nirvana songs use the bVI chord to make lessons about it on YT.

    How did you learn what equipment to use and how to edit?. I thought about doing a podcast about gardening but i don't have the faintest idea where to start

    • @LeighFugeGuitar
      @LeighFugeGuitar 13 днів тому

      Great question... honestly for me it was just research and trying things out. Editing was something I taught myself just by trying things, watching UA-cam videos and asking friends who are editors for advice. In terms of buying equipment, I spent a lot of time researching which cameras to buy and looked at the best cameras for the budget I had at the time. The audio stuff was easy for me because I've been a musician for over 20 years so that is all stuff I learnt on my journey, but the world of cameras, video and video editing was something I had to learn over the last 5 years and I'm still learning, I still find new things that help me improve. For a podcast I'd suggest buying the best quality microphones you can afford and a good audio interface. If you're going to do a video podcast, one camera that is good quality is better than multiple cameras of lower quality.

    I wish it came with the reverse headstock. It’s beautiful. I own an Oz RMN 3. Fantastic playing.

    Schecter is absolutely kicking ass in the guitar market with affordable premium guitars! I have 4 now and wouldn't part with a single one of them!

      I agree with this! One of my main touring guitars is a Schecter Nick Johnston model, the Diamond Series one which retails in the UK around the £700 mark. It's super reliable and dependable and sounds great every night! Schecter are absolutely crushing it in that mid-tier guitar range right now!
